Allergies

Allergies are the immune system’s incorrect response to a foreign substance. Exposure to what is normally a harmless substance, such as pollen, causes the immune system to react as if the substance were harmful. Substances that cause allergies are called allergens. This abnormal reaction leads to disease sates such as asthma, allergic rhinitis, urticaria…

People suffering from allergies have multiple symptoms such as an itchy, water nose and eyes, wheezing, coughing or hives. People can be allergic to a variety of substances, the most common of which are pollen, dust mites, animal dander and mold, but also commonly include latex, insect venom and certain foods. Allergies may be mild, moderate or severe. (For more information please refer to the corresponding patient information).
